Cubs take 2nd!!!

Although the boys got 2nd place...they are winners in my book!!! They all played a very good game against a very tough team!!! Way to go Upper Valley Cubs!!!

Ok so I think I mentioned a few days back about some hair brain project we were gonna start that would be 400 40# blocks to form a wall.....well......those 40# blocks turned into 65# blocks and those blanket blank things are heavy!!!! As I was trying to make my getaway this morning to some yard sales I was quilted into staying home and doing the right thing by helping get this honey do project finished....well I think we got about 1/3 of them laid...didn't want to not have anything to do for the rest of the weekend by getting them all laid in one day...lol Again I ask "why don't the guys on TV with their projects take this long?" I again received the same answer...at least some things never change! Maybe by the end of tomorrow I will be so tired I can't ask that question!
I am going to sneek away tomorrow morning as there is an annual warehouse sale that is not to be missed....hey I worked my fanny (or tried to anyways) off so I deserve a junkin fix!

Cubs win again!!!

Yes it is baseball season...seems lately we eat...sleep...breath & eat baseball!!!! Little League season is almost over and I'm pretty sure the boys systems are gonna go into shock when they don't get their 3-4 night a week pre-game ritual of either a hot dog meal or a cheeseburger meal followed after the game by an ice cream of some sorts. Thanks to Karen at the concession stand dinner is always ready!

We are in the last part of the city tournament and Clayson's team the Cubs won tonight 16-4....wonderful job by all the players......not so sure how the game tomorrow night will turn out as we have just a couple of pitchers left to use....that's that bad part of loosing earlier in the week...you just have to keep digging your way up out of the losers bracket by playing every night! They all played really well...Clayson pitched tonight....two innings with 9 pitches....six innings with no walks and a couple great hits!!! He was also selected to try out for the All Star team! Way to go Clayson!

Whoo weee just about missed this day...
We started a "little" hunny do project today....a wall that has over 400 40# blocks....make that a "heavy" hunny do project!!! Thank goodness it was a litte windy out there this afternoon cause when the sun came around it would have been hot, hot, hot!!! "How come it is that these projects take so long" I asked..."they don't take this long on the home improvement shows"....not so sure my answer is fit for this blog post so I will leave you to wonder on the possibilities!

Well I fell off the wagon for days 3 & 4...but I have a good excuse!! On day 3 that would be Saturday me and my littlest junkin partner left the house at 5:30 a.m. and headed to the Farm Chicks show in Spokane! Lucky for me and Garrett my nephew Coalby goes to EWU and lives in Cheney during the school year.....and again lucky for us is that he is not quite done wih school yet AND agreed to take care of a Garrett for me for the day!!!! So with a surprise visit from Kelsey (Coalby's very cute girlfriend and a local girl who has watched Garrett before) a great trip to the park...the gift shop on campus and pizza delivery they survived the day and it made for a great day for me to go junkin!!!!

Kinda weird being by myself although that feeling soon changed when I drove into the parking lot of the show!!! HOLY COW people everywhere...not sure where all these people come from but it must be far & wide! With the help of good friends watchin my back I was able to "creep" up in line and didn't have to wait the hour or so I'm sure it took the other line to get into the show!!!! I had a mission in mind and that was to get my flyers out to the dealers & friends that I have there so that maybe a few of these gazzillion people would hopefully see my American Primitives at Clayson Farm flyer and grab one to save the date & join me in August!!

There were as many people inside as outside as there was an early buyer ticket that could be purchased that got you into the show an hour early. With a whole new bay of vendors this is a titch overwhelming....everywhere you look is something else wonderful & amazing....the lengths that some (most) of the vendors take to get their booth ready is incredible. Back seats of old rusty cars, grain silos, gigantic barn cupola, 6' round water trough made into chandelier heck I even saw a booth that had a beautiful live white chicken!!!! Yes people pull out all the stops for this show!

One of my other missions was to get myself back to Cheney get Garrett and get to Moses Lake to watch Claysons 4:00 game. He had a baseball tourney there this weekend!!! Sorry to say that I missed the game but I did get to see the Sunday games and watch the boys battle it out to take 3rd!!! Great job boys!!!

Ok to the reason for missing my post challenge....on Saturday night when we checked into the hotel (whole team of 12 boys plus all the families) there were already 2 other baseball and 1 softball team checked in....so the place was a zoo. I knew that the hotel had a computer and free WiFi so I thought this would be great I won't miss a day cause they have a computer!!! Little did I know that I would be vying for a spot on that computer with 50 kids ages 9-16.....uggghhhh!!!! I even went down just before midnight and they were still on it!!!! Sunday morning wasn't much better so I thought oh shoot I will just post when I get home...got home about 9:30 and got unloaded, laundry started and sat down and fell asleep!!!

So that's my excuse and I am sticking to it!!!

So many things going on this weekend....but the biggest goings on is in Spokane! The ever spectacular Farm Chicks show is this weekend!! If you have never been well then by all means empty the truck find a trailer, ditch the kids & hubby, grab a girlfriend or three and get there!!!!

Come on what are you waiting for?....trust me you won't be dissapointed!!!

Is it really June? And is the last time I made a post on here in December? Well sad to say but Yes & Yes!!!!!

I have made myself a challenge or should I say added to the list of my challenges!! I have challenged myself to making a post on here and on my facebook page every day....yes everyday till August 13!!!! Why August 13 you ask? Well because that my friends is the date for this years American Primitives @ Clayson Farm Antique Show!!!!! Oh yes it is looking to be a wondeful show...so many talented vendors returning and some new ones joinin in the fun!!! Be sure and mark your calendars for this once a year junkin treat!!!! Be here bright and early as the gates open at 9:00 a.m. sharp!!! And it is a buying frenzy!!!

Well wish me luck as I have just knocked out day one.....not sure how many to go and not sure if I want to....lol

Thanks for stickin in there with my lamo posting skills and for giving me the slightest of hints as to "Hey did you know you haven't made a post since December!!!"

My heart is aching...I just learned that a long time friend, fellow junker & vendor of mine has lost her son.....River Daniel Moore passed away on Friday July 23 peacefully in his sleep....words are not enough...such a helpless feeling....wish that there was something I could do to ease this unimaginable pain and loss that she is feeling....Katy my thoughts and prayers are with you....may the love and support from friends and family guide you through.....

OMG she made a post!!!

It has been super hot here...like 100 but when it gets over 90 who's counting???? Besides the crazy weather there has been alot going on around here since April...baseball, baseball & more baseball...Clayson made the 9-10 year old All Star team and even though they didn't make it to state the boys did an outstanding job this year!!! Way to go Naches!!! So why am I taking the time to post all this now??? Well I have some extras special news.....

We have been selected by Timi aka...Junk Queen to bring a bus to the show!! So if you have any interest in being driven too and from the show the bus is the way to go!! Why not get out of the house & enjoy the beautiful sunshine.....take a drive to Historic Snohomish.....where you can enjoy wonderful shops full of great finds & fabulous food!
If driving isn't your thing you could ride your bike or.............

You could take a boat....although not so sure how that might go!!!

But however it is you decide to go just get there!!!! Timi will be at Annie's selling tickets for the bus ride to the Farm Chicks show!!!! This bus ride is the only way to go...NO BIKES....NO BOATS....just a bus filled with junk queens headed to one of the best junkin shows around!!!

It is SO the little things that make up our days, isn't it? Of course there are the BIG things and the in-between things. But I am most grateful for the little things. The things that we do because it is what we do. The day in and day out things-the everyday things. The things that we have done a zillion times before, knowing that they will need to be done a zillion times again. The repetitive solo dance that we do as we twirl through a single day. And when I get fussy and don't want to do some of these things I sternly remind myself how lucky I am to be alive and able to do them. And then I feel grateful again.

I started out this morning with great intentions to hit the gym..knowing that the day would be filled with wonderful treats that just needed to be eaten! But something pulled me to the computer to check Craig's List and low and behold there was a yard sale....so since my window of "free" time this morning was an hour I thought I would skip the workout and head for the sale....should have hit the gym!!! Wasn't much there but at least it was a clean sale no garbage but no treasures either.

I figured naked men on Valentines Day was a perfect fit so here is a picture of the men in my life. This was taken a couple years back (not sure if all three of them can still fit in the shower) but I still think it is a sweet picture and worked perfect for this post.

Make sure that you tell those special people how much they mean to you.

Shouldn't every day be Valentines Day? Well maybe we would have to forgo the chocolates although that would make more of us to love!!

WOW!! DO I FEEL OLD!! CLAYSON TURNED 10 TODAY! MY LITTLE LOVE DOLLY IS GROWING UP!!

THOUGHT IT WOULD BE ALRIGHT TO SNEEK OFF TO THE BEACH FOR A WEEK THIS LATE IN THE GAME........WELL WHAT WAS I THINKING????? USUALLY IF WE GO TO THE BEACH IT IS IN EARLY JULY. SO THERE ARE A FEW MORE WEEKS TO GET HOME & GET BUSY!

DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE LAWN, GARDEN, FLOWERS AND NOT TO MENTION THE WEEDS LOOK LIKE AFTER BEING LEFT FOR A WEEK??? IT'S NOT A PRETTY SITE!!

THE BEACH WAS FABULOUS! GREAT WEATHER AND FUN TIME SHARED WITH FAMILY....OK NOT EVERY WAKING MINUTE WAS TO BE TREASURED (THREE SMALL CHILDREN CLAYSON 9, BROCK 8 & GARRETT 2) TRYING TO GET ALONG ALL DAY & NIGHT AND THEN YOU THROW IN THE 40 ISH YEAR OLD CHILD (MARK) AND YOU HAVE THE MAKINGS OF SOME PRETTY GOOD TIFFS. GARRETT WAS NOT VERY SAND CASTLE WORTHY HE HAD MORE FUN STOMPING ON THE BOYS CREATIONS WELL ALMOST CREATIONS. HE WOULD GO OUT TO THE "BIG SWIMMING POOL" AKA OCEAN AND GET HIS WATERING CAN FULL OF WATER TO PACK DOWN THE SAND SO THE BOYS COULD GET THEIR CASTLES MADE ONLY TO COME UP AND TROMP THROUGH THE MIDDLE OF THE MASTERPIECES!!

GARRETT WASN'T TOO SURE OF THE BIG WAVES IN THAT SWIMMING POOL IN THE BEGINNING BUT BOY WITHIN A COUPLE OF HOURS HE WAS RIGHT IN THE MIDDLE OF IT ALL. LOVED THE COLD WATER AND ALL THE BIRDIES!

MY MOM, SISTER & I HAD FUN SHOPPING......THERE ARE SO MANY FUN PLACES TO LOOK. WE WERE EVEN LUCKY ENOUGH TO STUMBLE ON THE ANNUAL OUTDOOR VENDOR SALE AT FARMHOUSE FUNK JUST OUTSIDE OF ASTORIA. THERE ARE SO MANY FUN SHOPS IN CANNON BEACH I THINK OUR FAVORITE THOUGH IS SEASAME & LILLIES. ALTHOUGH THE BAKERY AND FINALLY AFTER TRYING ALL THE COFFEE SHOPS IN TOWN TO GET A GOOD LATTE WE WELL ACTUALLY POPPY (MY DAD) FOUND WERE CLOSE RUNNERS UP. AND CERTAINLY NOT TO BE MISSED IS THE PACIFIC CREST COTTAGE IN GEARHART IT IS ALWAYS SURE TO HAVE A TREASURE OR TWO. JOY HAS SUCH A GREAT SHOP AND IS THE NICEST LADY!

UNTIL NEXT YEAR! THAT'S ABOUT AS LONG AS IT IS GOING TO TAKE TO GET RID OF ALL THE SAND I KEEP FINDING!!!

We are going to have a "Winter Celebration in the the Barn". There will be two evenings for you to shop either Friday December 5th or Saturday December 6th from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. Come dressed for a fun night outdoors! Yes I did say outdoors! There will be heaters, warm drinks & yummy treats!

WOW WHAT A DAY! IT WAS AN AMAZING SITE & FEELING TO SEE THIS 60+ YEAR OLD BARN TRAVELING DOWN THE ROAD IN TWO PIECES. MY HUSBAND CAN FINALLY BREATH A SIGH OF RELIEF THAT SHE STAYED TOGETHER AND ALL HIS HARD WORK TO GET HER READY FOR THE MOVE PAID OFF. MY DAD SAID THAT THE "OLD GIRL" GOT A NEW HOME! NOT SURE WHAT THE "OLD GIRL" THOUGHT ABOUT THE WHOLE ORDEAL BUT IT SURE LOOKS LIKE SHE HAS BEEN HERE HER WHOLE LIFE......SHE FITS IN JUST PERFECTLY!!

OH MY GOSH........TOMORROW IS JULY!!!
I'm not sure where the time goes!!! The weather has finally changed it was only 99 degrees yesterday! The ice tea machine & maker had to work overtime! We took another quick road trip on Saturday up to Monroe & Snohomish. The drive is soooo beautiful from North Bend up thru Duvall, Fall City & Carnation. We made several stops to shops on the way to get show flyers distributed. There was a NW largest yard sale going on at the fairgrounds in Monroe........I didn't find much, but Mo made up for the both of us with his fishing pole & reel deals and not to mention a couple of other must have tool items! We then headed off to Snohomish for Craven Farm's tailgate sale in persuit of some hugs from Erin!! Oh Erin where are you?????????? Must have had big business going on in Olympia for the Mushroom festival or did she just meet some "fun guy"! ha! Clayson was so bummed he didn't get to see her! He was finally confivced she wasn't there when he couldn't find her car or that "huge" trailer she hauls around. Guess he will just have to wait till August for that HUG!

Snohomish is always fun.......my mom was born there so it is only fitting that she loves antiques! There are tons of fun shops to look at and there used to be a wonderful carmel corn/candy store but they have been replaced by a new gotta get one bakery where the chocolate almond cashew cookies are to die for! We finished out the trip by stopping back in Cle Elum and taking a tour thru the Suncadia project.........OH MY! This is a beautiful area. Lots of houses in the high rent district and then some other is the high high rent district. We stopped at one of the fort-treehouse playgrounds and let the kids blow off some stink before the final stop HOME! Nothing better than a great day junking with perfect weather & great company!

Sunday is supposed to be a day of rest........HA! Sunday was a day of work around here well at least most of the day. I worked on a brick moving project and Mark & Clayson worked on the barn project all the while the little guy (Garrett) was ni night in his nest with his little buns in the air......he's the only smart one! We then decided to take a break and head up to Naches to cool off in the pool. If only the pool was open! Not sure why they were closed on such a hot day. So we had to "settle" with taking sundaes to Gram & Poppy's house.

We are in the middle of a huge project........moving an old early 1900's barrell roof barn. Not sure at this point what we were thinking, but we have come to far to turn back! In order to get it moved to our property we are going to have to cut the top off and transport it in two pieces! So in order to do that the two pieces have to be shored up so they don't fall apart when it is taken apart and carried the mile or so to our house. And yes of course the weather has changed and it is supposed to be in the high 90's over the weekend. I guess that beats all the wind that we have been having lately.

The plan is to have the barn moved here and usable enough for the show by August the 9th.........no pressure Mo! This is the only project that we have going for the show this year other than the usual yard work, house cleaning and a million little honey do projects. Only 45 more days and counting!!

Don't really have any vacations planed just an occasional Saturday road trip. This weekend it will be to Monroe & Snohomish. Gonna go check out the "NW Largest Yard Sale" and then stop in at Craven Farm's tailgate sale to check up on Erin & Janet. Clayson has been dying to see them. Although we did run into Janet in Packwood over Memorial Day, but it has been quite some time since we've seen Erin (new auntie). Then in a couple of weeks we will venture down to Portland for EXPO!!! It is always the perfect gift for my mom since they plan this show to fall on her birthday almost every year!!!

I will try and get some pictures posted of the barn and get some more fine tuning done on this blog site....in my spare time ha! Where does the time go????

Yesterday was beautiful! It was a bit overcast, but the sun would peek through and so it did tend to seem a bit muggy out but no rain or wind and that is a good thing around here lately!

We drove down the Washington side of the Columbia river to attend the Flourishes flea market held at Mt. Pleasant. All of the wildflowers are in bloom and everything is still really green. We raced a few trains & honked the horn in every tunnel (yes all 8 of them)! The Mt. Pleasant property's view is breathtaking especially today there is no wind and the river is like a huge sheet of blue glass and the reflection of all of the hillsides in the water is fabulous!
Aleta informed us that there had been a "bear" that had come through the show in the night and caused some havik~guess he didn't realize that early buying was from 8-10 A.M.!!! Not really sure what it was he was looking for, but it sure added some unneeded & unexpected craziness to the morning that Aleta didn't need or deserve! But she of course didn't let a little "bear" stop her. The show must go on and it did!

We met Jermonne & Joe from the Barn House. They had the greatest booth! Cool stuff and a perfect spot at the back of a barn no less! I hinted that if they would like to they could come join the show this year. They are in the process of trying to figure out the best mode of transportation for their goods. Renting a U-haul is not the most economical way, but do you go with a trailer and then will the truck pull the trailer? Geez isn't anything easy anymore? I wish them much success and hope to see them in August!

My friend Wendy went with us and she bought a 7' pine plank style table for $71.00 yes i said $71.00!! The funnest part was strapping it to the top of the Excursion....the roof racks had never been used and this was the perfect way for them to be initiated! Clayson wanted to know if we were going to get a ticket for hauling a table upside down on the car or if we would knock it off when we went back home through the tunnels! The only thing we got was junk envy when we went into Camas for the rest of the day to check out the shops. What a charming little town! We decided to complete our circle trip by coming home via White Pass (no tunnels-darn). We stopped in Packwood for a potty break and some medicine (diet pepsi & peanut M&M's) and let Garrett yell at the Elk feeding in the pasture behind the convenience store!

It was such a beautiful drive and there is still actually snow in places along the road at the top of the pass!

WELL WE ARE GOING TO TAKE OFF TOMORROW FOR A FAST & FURIOS JUNKING ROAD TRIP. WE ARE GOING TO GO CHECKOUT THE 1ST FLEA MARKET AT FLOURISHES IN MT. PLEASANT. THIS LOCATION USED TO BE HOME TO WILLOW NEST. SINCE LINDA & LUDMIL HAVE TAKEN OFF TO LIVE IN THE BIG STATE OF TEXAS, THE NEW OWNERS; ALETA & BILL ARE DIVING INTO THEIR OWN STYLE OF EVENTS. THEY HAVE A BEAUTIFUL LOCATION! HOPEFULLY THE WEATHER WILL BE GOOD. IT HAS BEEN SO WINDY AROUND HERE LATELY!
